Maria Antonietta Biography by Stefan Zweig

Maria Antonietta is a misunderstood historical figure. She was simply a carefree princess thrown into a world of politics and lies. Her ignorance was not her fault. The one's who is to blame for the French Revolution is the Sun king. He isolated himself in his Solar Palace. To make matters worse, he made enemies of all the nobles. He kept them in cells inside his Versailles. When his son took over, he could not fill the Sun King's tyrannical shoes.

This is one among the many events that Stefan Zweig sheds a little light. More importantly, the finals chapters are amassing. Maria Antonietta finally acted like a Queen in her last days when she was fighting for her head. Its funny how the plebeians turn on you. In her early days, she was known as the Rococo Queen. She was popular for her frivolous lifestyle. However, when the treasury went dry, they all turned on her. It goes to show that all one needs to be popular is food and circus. In any case, this biography deserves 5 star rating. I think this biography got made into a movie. I never heard of a biography being made into a movie. That Stefan Zweig was just that good of a writer.
