The Power Project: The Furies Manga Anime Review
Recently, my bro finished putting the shadings and lines on The Furies. I have been working on this graphic novel for years. The linearts go as far as volume two. Regardless, my graphic novel is about the Furies. Well, it is the fusion of several stories, using The Furies as the spinal cord of the storyline. Before I begin, I must explain something about the Powers. The Powers are Aliens who are so Powerful, that people just call them Powers. This manga is called the Power Project because The Furies are part of an experiment. The Powers are always experimenting with the fate of others. It is part of their former human nature.
On that note, let me tell you a bit about the Power Project: The Furies. The story opens with Gilgamesh. Like we all know, Gilgamesh is the first, and the gayest epic hero. This Gilgamesh is simply named after the guy. In Uruk, the name Gilgamesh is pretty popular. Its sorta how we name a lot of people Jesus. In any case, Gilgamesh is a powerful mage, as his father before him. One night, his magic went awry. In his rampage, Gilgamesh murdered his father Anvil.
At his funeral, the Furies manifested. The Furies are vengeful Greek Goddesses. Their world was destroyed by the Abandon. In order to get revenge, they need to gain power. Since they do have a world, their powers depend on doing revenge missions in other worlds. Needless to say, they are vagrant goddesses. They do not belong to any world. To make meets ends, they forged summoning contracts. They perform revenge missions for whoever calls upon them.
The leader of the Furies is Nemesis Kida. She was sealed away by an abandon, named Abadon. He used the Cancer Constellation Abandon to swallowed the sun of the Furies. Without the sun, their wold died. However, not all hope is lost. Due to the nature of the Abandons. If you slay them, all their existence, their actions and effects are erased from history.
Due to this fact, the Furies are motivated to kill the Abandon by any means necessary. Regardless of whatever they do, or how low they go, their current bad actions will not matter. If they defeat the Abandon, it would be as if he never existed. Well, back to Gilgamesh. During his battle against the bull of Heaven, Gilgamesh stumbles upon the hidden spot where Kida was sealed.
Using the power of Metal Gilgamesh, the strange being possessing him, Gilgamesh was able to release Kida. Like most sappy romances, Gilgamesh fell in love with Kida. The problem is that Kida is a fury. Because she was sealed away, she did not know of Gilgamesh's crime. After freeing her, the Furies left Uruk, indefinitely.
Well, the storyline of the first volume leads up to the tournament to marry Kida. Kida is offering her hand to the most powerful magic user. Abadons are weak against magic, thus Kida used this tournament to find someone to help her defeat the Abandon. Gilgamesh loves Kida. He is willing to marry her, even if there is a chance that she might find out his crime. There is also another important motivation. In Greece, whoever marries a God, becomes a God. Like in the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gil wants to become a God. He is just afraid of old age. However, the thing that really frightens Gil is his magic. The last time he used magic he killed his father.
Thus, he is an extremely powerful magic user who refuses to use magic. As for Kida, she is a failed Power Project. All other Kidas have been discontinued from the market. They start out well, and then they eventually blow up in your face. As you can see, the Furies are really desperate to rely in a Kida. So, yeah, that is roughly the storyline, of volume one.
A lot of other cool things happen on the way. I wrote this anime manga keeping in mind the things I hated of other mangas. For this reason, I do not beat around the bushes much. The characters do not give 3 punches and start talking about it. I have about 7 or 8 battles in volume one. The longest battle is the tournament fight between Enoch and Franko.
Franko is the Power who is overlooking this power Project. Well, he is not the official overseer. The one who is keeping track of Gil and Kida is Dae, the bird of Paradise. Franko just simply wondered into the tournament. He is a hunter of sorts. On that day, he felt like hunting wizards. Franko has a little girl named Hymn. She is the one who likes collecting rare specimens. Those that do not measure up are slain by her father.
Anyhow, Franko is a Sharpshooter and Enoch is a Wizard. You may wonder why there was a gunman in a wizard tournament. However, Franko is not the kind of person you can easily get rid off. If his little girl wants to participate in a wizard tournament, then by God! she will get what she wants. Anyhow, this was a pretty flashy battle. It lasted about 16 pages. I am certain that you will like it a lot.
Another thing I wanna mention is the blood and gore. I really like to rough up my anime characters. Sometimes, I burn them. Other times, I hack off a few limps. Other times I just maul them. You know, nothing too serious. One more thing, at times Kida appears without any attire. Mostly, when she is parodying a Greek statue. Gilgamesh's clothing does get torn up a few times. However, I took care to cover his junk. The only male balls you see are those of the bull of heaven. There are some very spooky monsters, here and there.
If I had to guess, I would say that my manga is for 16th years or older. The anime genre is shonen. We do have a lot of action, and battles. Volume 2 is already well on its way. The battles only get better, as the story progresses. The manga is also very funny. Mostly, visual comedy and parodies. I also have a decent amount of blind jokes. I have plenty more to mention, however, my bro keeps telling me not release so many spoilers.
Oh! the in between chapter decorative anime wallpapers are spoilers. They show scenes planned for the future. If you like what you read, please buy my manga. The Power Project: The Furies is 5 stars worthy. Oh, before I forget. We are selling my manga in PDF format. It is the first mobile manga of its kind. The panels are read from right to left, like a regular Japanese manga. It has 253 pages.
