Radiata Stories PlayStation 2 Game Review

Radiata Stories is among the best games I ever played. It only went sour when we began to collect friends. Getting records or making complete list of things always sours things up. Regardless, lets talk about the game. Radiata Stories begins with an open book. Eventually, the pages turn to the battle of Cairn Russell vs the Ice Dragon. It was among the coolest game battles I ever seen. Eventually, the father got algendars (or the berserk virus) in the middle of the battle. He really was not suppose to have fought against the water dragon. Regardless, his berserk mode allowed him to defeat the beast. For slaying it, he saved humanity from the dragon. His reward was a madness virus that forced his best friend to kill him.




Well, you find out all about this later. For now, the story turns to his son, Jack Rusell. He is trying to follow in his father's steps. In the Rose Cuochon, he meets Ridley Silverlakes. She is his lover girl. They did not get along, till later. Eventually, you get kicked out of the knights. You then join the warrior guild to make meets ends. In the town of Radiata, you meet a lot of people. Via speech, you get to unlock a lot of cool missions. By kicking people you can battle them.

You know, that is the method we used to train. I used to kick the higher level guys. The easiest guys to defeat are the dwarfs. All you have to do is run around a lot. However, you can only challenge each person once a day. In one file, I tried kicking Aphelion in his human form, early in the game. I wanted to see if he bit my head off in his cool black dragon form. Oh, yeah, the dragon of darkness is the final boss. He is with the humans. He wishes to free them from the Tyranny of all the other dragons, and the nonhumans.

At a certain point, you must choose between the humans and non humans. The problem is that your girl is the vessel for the sun dragon. She naturally went with the non humans. Thus, if you go with the humans, then she dies. If you save her, then you and all the humans die. Kind of a tough choice.

After you win the game (in either scenario), you get to play in the Trail of Tribulations. There you fight the infamous Lezard Valeth. He is from Valkyrie Profiles. You also get to fight with Cairn Russell. Its pretty funny the battle with Gabriel Celesta. In this game, he is a creepy black guy wearing a speedo. He jumped Jack Russell from behind. hehehe...

In that place, you also meet Lenneth. She wants to kill you to turn you into a chosen warrior among the dead. If you win, she becomes your ally. The last boss is the Ethereal Queen. Inside the trail, you also get to fight all the elemental dragons. The golden dragon was kinda sketchy. You will see, one you get there. hehehe... Well, there is also the real golden dragon. He shows up either in the place were you fought Lenneth or in the place were you fought your father.

From the playable characters, I like best the non humans. My favorite are the light elves. I specially like Gil a lot. He is pretty powerful. He also writes good poetry. Another powerful guy is the ghost goblin. He uses powerful magic. There was also the head of the Green Orcs. He was pretty strong. From the human side, the most interesting ally is Sonata. He is a blue wolf. You kinda have to chase after him him, until you meet him in a lot of areas at night. The most powerful of the humans is the Genie, leader of the Thieves guild. Its a real bummer about that guy. Its ironic that the most powerful fighters on the human side were not even human. Hahahaha!!

Another thing that is cool about the game are the armors. You can only equip yourself. Among the most interesting of armors was a tuxedo. It was pretty funny. I forget... I think the best armor was a samurai armor... The weapons also varied. The overdrive depended on the weapon. Speaking of overdrives, only a few allies had an overdrive. Lenneth had Nebeiloung Valeski. I really cannot spell that attack.

Oh well, I think that is everything worth mentioning about the game. The music was peachy and so was the presentation. Truly, this amassing game deserves 5 stars rating. You know what is evil? In this game, only the humans ever got wiped out. Its such a nice thing that the Dragon of Darkness turned the table on the non humans. He was such a good God to humanity, for better or for worse. Wait!! I remembered something else. Jack Russell's sword is called the Arbitrator. It was the same sword used by his father.I think Radiata Stories got made into a manga.
