Poltergeist 1,2 and 3 Horror Movies Reviews 5 stars worthy
The Poltergeist movies are 5 stars worthy. What is most amassing about them is what occurred to the little girl of each movie. Like the Dumbledore actor, all three little girl actors who played Carol Ann died. None of them survived any of the poltergeist movies. I suppose I should tell you about the movies. In the first movie, Carol Ann one day begins to talk to the static on the TV set. Eventually, the static manifest a spirit that rocks the house like an earthquake. After this earthquake she says her infamous, "They are here..." phrase.
Yeah, in the 80s TVs had static. Today, Carol Ann would be simply talking to the blue screen. Anyhow, since the first apparition things went from bad to worse. The first poltergeist movie had a lot of interesting special effects. For being a pretty old horror movie, it works pretty well. In the second part, the family is living with grandma Jess. Grandma Jess has some psychic powers of sorts.
A year after the first Poltergeist event, Grandma Jess begins to sense that something is amiss. Frankly, I liked the second part the best. The family hoped that by moving away, their ghost problem would have gone away. However, the Poltergeist is still after Carol Ann. Here the poltergeist is not some faceless demon. Here is personified in the form of a creepy protestant cult leader, called Henry Kane.
As he walked around the neighborhood, Henry Kane used to sing, "God is in his holy temple, watching from above". Following his song, was a creepy storm of sorts. It was a great creepy effect. Anyhow, this guy was still after Carol Ann because of her clairvoyant powers. She had influence in the other side. Such supernatural powers skip generations. Her grandma Jess was also like her. However, she was able to put a lid on it.
Around this time, Carol Ann's father has become a drunkard. He drinks to escape from the terrible reality that haunts his family. I thought it was cool how the Poltergeist possessed the scorpion inside the bottle. When the father drank it, accidentally, he became possessed by the demon. The dispossession was pretty disgusting, in a scary movie sort of fashion. A lot of other things happened in the second part, but I don't want to spoil the rest.
The last movie had the bad Carol Anne actor. The poor girl is going to a school for special kids. I guess all those dealings with poltergeists screw the girl up. In this movie, once again the big bad ghost is after her. This movie is a bit more like Alice in Wonderland: Through the looking glass. Here the girl was trapped inside the mirrors.
I think the ghost tracked them down to a hotel. The last movie was not too hilarious. Frankly, it sucked. The issue was that the third part was not written by the true creators of the Poltergeist films. As it happens, whenever a movie is commercially successful they try to force another part. Frankly, only the first two movies are worth watching. The second part had the feel of an ending. Anyhow, Phi Stars recommends Poltergeist part 1 and 2. They are 5 stars worthy Horror movies.
You know, another problem with the third movie is that most of the cast was dead. When writing the script, they needed an excuse for not having the original family members. Most died, after the filming of the second movie. Heck, only two survived the 3 Poltergeist movies. Lets do some math here! Originally the family of Carol Ann had 5 members. After three movies, 3 died. Scary... but weird things like this happen from time to time. I guess the creators of the Poltergeist movies stumbled upon something they should not have.
