Elmo Says "No" to Cuts on Music Programs
I’ve seen Latin American presidents playing soccer. Heck, I even seen Chavez playing the ukulele. But I had never seen a fictional character testify in congress. Back in 2002, Elmo visited Washington to demand Congress to stop cutting down schools' music programs.

I truly agree with the little fellow. Music is a key instrument in civilizing role of schools. Whatever happened to this country's Orphic believes? Back when this country was founded music was held in higher esteem. President Clinton played the saxophone, Nixon and Truman were great pianists, and Thomas Jefferson was a violin fanatic. Thus, to cut music funds is un-American.
So, if you care about making your children functioning members of society help Elmo save the music programs. Without them, this country would lose an irreplaceable part of its culture.
Side note: What I call Orphic believes was a general trend that was popular during the American Revolution. Great supporters of the American Revolution like James Barry believed that the arts where key in the development of civilization. The representative of the Arts back then was the mythological character named Orpheus.
