This book differs greatly from the Disney movie in many aspects. Pheobus is a pompous #$%, the monk is not always evil, Quasimodo is deaf... The book has many violent and gory scenes that the adult reader will enjoy. This book is not for children. In it appears scenes of ardor passion in the infamous scene where the surly monk Claude Frollo enters the chambers of Esmeralda and forces himself upon her. OH and before I forget...Here are the annoying books that are best skipped. Book 1 : avoid roughly about half of it. Book 3: Skip if you do not know Paris scenery. Book 5 -II: Explains how the printing press killed written books.
