There is a lot to be said about Inuyasha. First of all, the keen viewer would have noticed the varying strains of thoughts that inhabited the perplexed mind of the author. In the early episodes this show had the air of being like Ikki tousen. Scenes like Inuyasha striking his hand in Yura's chest and numerous Kagome nudes lead me to believe that my first supposition was correct. But as the episodes passed the normal nonchelat scenes disappeared. In the last episodes one hardly saw the characters sleeping (or eating for that fashion). It seems she cut down on the funny scenes. All became serious dark and dreary ...like a Bram Stoker novel (which I am certain no one has read).
That being said I move on to another perplexity. First of all, it is her vague attempt at making the show historical. At a certain point it seems she threw the history book out the window and wrote whatever she felt like. We have much to that the gods for that light of mercy. Frankly, the worst episodes where those of Nobunaga ect. I found it rather amusing the OPA ( out of place artifact) that was in possession of the possessed band of 7. This appeared in the form of the metal tank cyborg. Had that technology been available in Japan at that time it would have been the west modernizing to the way of japan ( and not the other way around).
It is truly filled with strange oddities and out of place occurrences. For example, I wonder when the demons became extinct. Did one day the Crusaders passed by and send them all to the netherworld. And if many like Sesshomaru or Koga had something of an immortal in them ...then why no scientific proof or evidence of them appear in the modern Japan. That being the case I expostulate that in order for the show to make any time frame base it must be stated that it occurred in an alternate dimension. This seems more easily explainable and possible. By using as example the Ifa tree of FF9 one can understand how the soul of Kikyo could transmigrate to other planets. The tree of Inuyasha could have served as a beacon between the two worlds (further reinforced by the bone eater well). Thus, ladies and gentlemen my explanation is more plausible this rift in time...
As for the storyline itself I found certain aspect doleful and unimaginative. Twice Rin was slain by a wolf mother. It would have been far more interesting that her death would have been permanent ( the same could be said of Kikyo who revived 10,000 times). Authors should handles their creations brutally. A show without brutality lacks intensity. When was Naraku more interesting when he sobbed for Kikyo or when he butchered an entire village for his own amusement. Honestly, the early Naraku was far more brutal than the latter. As for Sesshomaru sprouting another had ( and with a sword no less) I find it simply irresistible. Oh the pity the poor boy. Come on!! If even JK Rowling killed Dumbledore then why Sesshy be spared. Look peaple , Tragedy and Comedy run hand and hand. One cannot coexist without the other.
As for the names... Inuyasha... or she-dog . Which in the English tongue it means $^$%&^. I remember in the Japanese version the killer asked Inuyahsa's father "what is that you called me". Thus, at first it seemed to the enemy to be an insult. Thus, my readers I have affirmed that the name Inuyasha is offensive and that it truly means ^#$^^. That being said, it appears that the father did not bother to check that his son was actually a son. Based on the poor choice in name that was given to the eldest ( Sesshy meaning aristocratic assassin), that the father of both this poor boys is a brute. That being said, it is of no surprise that both of their characters are brutish, even if one is refined in a brutish fashion. Both in a way reflect their nature, one being #$^ and one being a fancy brute. As for Kagome, as I have said earlier means in Spanish ( poop on me). Names of a similar nature are reoccurring in this graphic novel / TV show.
Well this is as much as I am able to write of this show for the time being...should I think of anything else I will not hesitate to add it.
