Marvel Wolverine

Marvel wolverine is a co up effort carried out by Marvel Comics and the super powerful anime company by the Name of Madhouse inc. This is part of a 12 part series whose sole purpose is to introduce to the Japanese otaku market marvel comic books. Part of the line up includes Iron Man, Wolverine , X men (that is set to come out this April) and Blade. From all those mentioned above, I am far more exited about Blade. Can you imagine how bloody that anime show is gonna be. but this post is about wolverine so I will refrain from going off topic.




Marvel Wolverine chronicles the adventures of Wolverine in Japan. The wolverine that was used for this remake is the wolverine from the marvel comic "The Prodigal Son". This marvel comic was later adapted into X men Origins :Wolverine. In this story Logan has a new girlfriend. Mariko is the daughter of a terrible Yakuza leader. One day she is forced to return home in order to marry Kurohagi leader of Madripoor. This political marriage did very little to stop the chivalrous efforts of wolverine to rescue Mariko. With the help of an old friend he managed to track her down to Japan.

In this anime show we see several cross overs with very popular X men wolverine related character. There is the silver Samurai who appears in the form of the Assassin Kikyo. There is Yukio hot marvel girl that had been paired up with wolverine in another marvel comic. In this show, is where supposedly all meet for the first time. Among old know faces, we have Omega Red and Scott aka cyclops. Scott simply shows up to give a ride to Logan on his journey to Madripoor. Omega Red is an enemy Logan made during the cold War. He was the Soviets response to the US adamantium project. But  I will get into that topic else were.

Basically, the battles are intense and original, at best there is a 5 min gap between each 5 to ten min battle. Here wolverine has a brain or two. He still as reckless as ever however his fighting technique is quite varied and refine. He no longer just plunges forward. He actually sneaks around and is quite successful in ambushes and other reconeses missions. The problem with old wolverine depictions is that they exalted his animal instinct far too much. What makes wolverine so sublime is the combine might of his animal prowess and his critical thinking skills developed after participating in wars ever since the US civil war. Wolverine is not a brute, he actually has a brain or two. This anime many other refinements in the wolverine anime character makes Marvel Wolverine a must see action anime show.
