Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun Second Anime Review

Two days ago, I had the privilege of watching Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, a new romance anime show. I normally despise anime teenage dramas. This one ,however, Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun was a breath of fresh air. Like I had said before, the anime was about a romance between a nerd and a trouble maker. The show begins with Shizuku hearing bad rumors about Yoshida. Shizuku then was asked by the teacher to deliver Yoshida's class notes. She does that reluctantly. She left them with Yoshida's boss. It seems Yoshida has been avoiding going to school. He really hates it because people are always glaring at him. Plus, he has a short fuse.



He caught Shizuku and asked her if she was a school spy. She said no and he imagined that she had brought him the notes because she was his friend. Time passed and he kept following her around a bit. They had lunch and she told Yoshida that the guys he hanged out with where using him for his money. He got angry and poured his soda on her. She did the same to him and fled.

Eventually, they saw each other again. She had a little flashback about a a dead bunny. Her classmates began to call her dry ice because she did not cry. However, when she saw Yoshida's sadness she was moved. She hugged him and told him that did care for him. At this moment, Yoshida realized that he loved Shizuku. She did not believe him because she thought he was focusing all his emotions on the first person that had shown him kindness. To prove that his feelings where genuine he decided to return to school and make friends.

After this incident, Yoshida returned to school. He kept following her around. She was not able to study. Thus, her grades began to drop a bit. When she was kidnapped by Yoshida's enemies, she was happy to have some quiet time to study. When Yoshida went to save her, his blind rage made him hit Shizuku by accident. At this point, she was fed up. She told him that she could not give him the affection he desired.

They patched things up later. The teacher that worried about Yoshida gave him a relationship book. He began to act thoughtful and quiet. It seems Shizuku's presence had finally calmed Yoshida. The episode ended with Yoshida kissing Shizuku just like the relationship book had said. I liked this anime show a lot. It is a bit fast paced. That is why I had to write a lot for the first episode. However, the transition between scenes flows fluently. The character personalities are well defined.

They are not one track record. I also liked the jokes here and there. What really humored me was Yoshida's Rooster that was totally yaoi.  He was taking care of a baseball as if it was an egg. I feel bad for the poor yaoi rooster. I am certain that you will like Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun a lot. Phi Stars recommends it to all weirdoes who are bored with typical anime teenage dramas.
