Twenty Four Hours in the Life of a Woman by Stefan Zweig Novella Review
This novella was actually made into a movie. It was just that good. Well, any novella of Stefan Zweig's is short enough to fit into an 120 minute motion picture. In any case, the novel starts with a man receiving a letter. In this letter, lies the love confession of a woman. He does not remember her, but she remembers him. Ever since they parted, she has been sending him white roses. In their only night together, he gave her a white rose. Thus, she sent him the flowers with the vain hopes that he would remember her. The story goes from when she first met him as a child to the last time they saw each other. This novella ends pretty sadly. Then again, by now you should expect bad endings from Stefan Zweig. If you ask me, happy endings are over rated. For this reason, this love novella deserves 5 star rating.
