London 2012 Olympics All Round Team Women Gymnastic Finals: Team USA Vault Review
Well, today I saw the All Rounds Team Women's Gymnastic finals. The first event that I will discuss is Vaulting. Basically, you jump over this vault in a flamboyant elaborate fashion. Whats important is the landing , and the twist. This event is really hard. Some maidens even hopped outside the mat. Its just that with so much momentum you have to release it in a jump, or a step. Otherwise, you risk falling flat on your face. Trust me, falling forward gives you some serious deduction points. Basically, each stunt has a set amount of points. The judges already know before hand the stunt the girls are about to do. Thus, they simply observe the stunt looking for errors.
First, I am gonna rate Team USA. The first maiden from Team USA is Jordyn Wieber. This was her first event after the fiasco at Day 1 of Gymnastic. She started crying when she saw she did not qualify. It was all due to the corner of Doom. It ruined the routines of hundreds of female athletes. What's silly was the contrast between Gabby Douglas' good humor and Wieber's tears. Anyhow, Wieber did her vault. She seemed more composed after the first day. Her Mama was in the audience praying to all the saints. She was stressed at not being able to console her daughter. It was a tender emotional moment for both mother and daughter. Anyhow, Wieber's vault was perfect . Her landing was solid. I wonder if it is tradition for the judges to deduct 1.something points from all routines. Oh well, Regardless, Wieber's vault deserves 5 star rating.
