Tri-Ace the Godslayers 

 

I played many games produced by the company tri-ace. I noticed a common theme in the majority of the final bosses. Always the characters in some way or another rebel against the ultimate authority in the world (AKA God). It is as if Lot went to slay god after what god put him through in the dessert. This ultimate rebellion seems to be recurrent in all their games. I wonder what sort of sick pleasure they feel when they slay god again and again in all their games. I have to admit that one feels powerful when your level 35 Fait beats the all powerful Creator.

Their general thesis is that mankind does not need god. This was said verbatim by Valkyrie Silmeria to her sister Hrist. The gods usually displayed want to bring doomsday upon the humans. They in turn rebel against the one who brought them life. I think that the one who writes the storyline must really hate his own father. I bet he enjoys seeing his own father beaten down in all the story lines of his games.

The first ultimate god is the warrior god Odin. This one out of spite took the dragon orb (the support of humanity). He did not care that humanity would perish. Thus, when he was kidnapped by the mage Lezard the enheijars did not come to his aid. The lesson that this episode seems to convey is that one cannot rule by tyranny. Even should one sever the binds tying soldiers to home it is impossible for them to turn their blade upon their family members and descendants. Thus, the rule of strength cannot abide forever.

Following is Lezard Valeth, he let the whole god thing get to his head. He was not born a god so when the opportunity arose he stole Odin's powers. Sadly, he was not able to earn the respect of Odin's previous subjects. He won his powers by treachery. Thus a treacherous god cannot win the power over the subjects just for being a god. Their thesis seems to be that just because a missionary claims that a god is supposedly the real and the great it does not guarantee that people will abandon their old beliefs. As Hrist would put it "No man will bow before their fellow god.  

The following is the dragon god Aphelion ( I could not find a photo of him transformed into a dragon but take my word for it he  truly is the final boss). He at least behaved like a god is supposed to. He tried to keep the world end from the humans. He was punished for delaying the inevitable. Like Jesus he perished in the good cause. Nahh,  I am just exaggerating. He was killed for being too violent about saving humans.This god failed because his ends did not justify the means.


The next final boss god is our dear old Luther from Star Ocean Till the end of time. This one's crime was that he tried to delete a few viruses. So next time your running your Norton anti-virus be careful that the viruses don't come to our world to beat you op. I do have to admit that the whole situation was absurd. 0s and 1s having feelings.

In The Last Hope, the final boss was Window Update. This  is rather a funny event. It had a Brahma like speech. It claimed to be one and all and to permeate all things.

Oh and before I forget the lunar god from Infinite undiscovered. He wanted to crush the moon into earth He did not want humans create for they were made by accident. This story reminds me a lot of the Gnostic story of creation. Humans where made accidentally by Sophia and then it is the messiah's job to fix her mistake. Thus , the lunar god is the Messiah, and the dread night his little Peter. Funny even the messiah is getting dissed in this story. Well not the Catholic Jesus rather the Gnostic Jesus. Yeah, for tri-ace he is a real bad guy.

Last but not least was the last Remnant. This final boss was a god weapon that rebelled against the humans. His negative activities was triggered by humans abusing the god weapon's powers. This one at least had a good reason to turn on the humans. Abuse of power must always be punished. This one right next to Ultimecia was the strongest final boss that was ever invented.. I still have not managed to win the game.

Thus, it seems that tri-ace and its gamers feel pretty darn powerful when they defeat god. I for one am quite the avid god slayer not literally of course. I do see some wrong in it, but this god slayer thing does make their games quite interesting and one sided. In their games the ultimate odds are against you.And I enjoy wining the games when the odds are against me.
