Amassing Naruto Shippudden Episode 289 Review
This Naurto Episode started in a grim mood. Some ninjas were getting killed by Ameyuri Ringo. She is one of those corpse Blood Mist Swordsmen. Her blades produced lighting. The sword design reminds me a bit of the Demon Blade from an old Nintendo game. In any case, her twin blades shot killer lightning. The leader adviced them to run like there was no tomorrow. However, one of them wanted to fight. It was the lollipop ninja guy who studied under Killer Bee. I think his name was Omoi. His blade style was deceptive. Kinda like a sneak attack. While they ran, Ringo kept killing them one by one. Eventually, the leader told them of Ringo's reputation. No one ever escapes Ringo.
Needless to say, running from her was pointless. Well, the weird kid tried to fight back. However, he concluded that fighting her was also pointless. She was a far better skilled swordsman. Using her lightning powers, she took down the two remaining ninjas. The only one that was not injured was Omoi. She saved him for last because he was the one she truly wanted to kill. While this was occurring, Kakashi and Guy were trying to regroup with the ninjas fighting Ringo. They found the leader half dead. He told them to meet up with Omoi.
He had told the kid to lure Ringo to this random place. When he managed to get her there. She used her lightning style. Her attack cracked the floor. She was thus stuck in a sinkhole. The ninja kid survived because Sai, Kakashi and Guy fished him out. As a parting gift, Ringo gave him her ninja blades. She really did like that kid. It was not everyday that someone stood up to Ringo. She had been undefeated until that day. Unlike the other undead ninjas, she had died because of an incurable disease. Thus, she did not suffer through old age or the infamy being slain in a battle. In this episode, the Blood Mist Swordsman Ringo was defeated.
This episode was rather heartwarming. While searching for survivals, Kakashi was talking about heroes. He was hoping that among the ninjas that were left behind, a hero would rise among them. Omoi fulfilled his hopes. As a price, he inherited the lightning blades. The episode ended with Kakashi and Guy hearing of Naruto and Killer Bee. Kakashi said that those were the heroes they needed to turn this war around. Its episodes like this that are the prelude to a great tragedy. However, I remember that in the graphic novel, after Naruto and Killer Bee had gotten out they had met Obito. I have a strange feeling that this is a filler episode. I wish this Naruto shippudden last season would have been like Inuyasha the last Order. You know, just 24 episodes and a Happy ending. These fillers are the bane of my existence. In any case, this cute Naruto Shippuden episode deserves 5 stars anime kida rating. It was entertaining, at least.
