Meditations on Atheism, Perfectionism and Power
From time to time, I like to meditate on atheism. I am not an atheist. This however, has not stopped me from thinking about it from time to time. Last night, while speaking with my brother, I struck on an idea. Atheism by definition, claims that there is no such thing as God. There is no being above humankind. We are at the top of the food chain. If you think about it, following this definition... God is also an atheist.
Hear me out. God knows, that there is not God above himself. He is the creator of the all. He is the Alpha and the Omega, ect. In the Western vision of God, the one centered on the book of Genesis, we are the mirror image of God. If we are so much like God, then it makes sense that its in our nature to be atheist. Just like God is an atheist. Atheist thoughts is bound to our Godly nature.
Thus, in a strange way, atheist thoughts originates from our creator... Kinda makes your head spin. There are some minor differences. While God has assurance that there is no one above him, we humans do not. This fault lies within ourselves. Since we are such imperfect creatures (yeah, one bad chromosome and the entire human falls apart), we aspire for perfection.
I think its ironic that we imagine that perfection can be born from imperfection. Considering that all our senses records limited data, how can we imagine that we have full grasp of knowledge? Our eyes only sees a small section of the spectrum. Our ears are also limited. Our tongue can only record four taste variates. Our sense of hearing and smell are not so sharp. If you ask me, the only sense that we can truly depend on is the sense of touch. With it we can distinguish shapes, texture and temperature. Observation is the backbone of science. Since our powers' of observation are limited, it stands to reason that our science is limited.
Can we truly make something perfect? What is perfection? Something that is eternal and sublime... only a Supreme being can aspire to such a status! We are surrounded by imperfection... Nothing is eternal! Everything ,in the end, will turn to entropy (useless energy), nothingness. From nothing we came to being, and into nothing we will return.
For those that do not know, that last line is Nirvana, in a nutshell. Buddhism was the first surge of atheism in the world. At least, in recorded history. If you ask me, atheism is over rated. I mean, its like they want a price for not believing in God. In the old days, they used to complain about God being forced down their throats. Now, the persecution has become inverted. Now, the unbelievers prosecute the believers. Ain't this a #@#?
If you ask me, all these questions about God and Perfectionism simply mask the heart of the matter. In the end, what mankind truly desires is Power. At least once, all have felt a bit envious of someone that has wealth, beauty, and influence. All these are forms of power. Since we are imperfect, we seek perfection. The problem is that we can never be completed.
Mother nature, God, evolution demands that mankind always have room for improvement. Thus, since we are always changing; we crave for others' to tell us that we are awesome. This is where power comes in. We each have a limited powers. However, by influencing others we can make use of their powers. Thus, in order to be complete we seek to bond with others. They in turn seek to bond with us. Thus, we become perfect when we unite. We each make up for the flaws of the other.
The problem arise when we refuse to contribute to the common good. We all wish to be at the top of the pyramid. That will to power really is problematic. When all fight for the top the pyramid falls apart. All system of control are embedded with mini pyramids. Lets take to examples, macro wise we move from the president down to the voters. Outside the global office (micro wise), we have store managers' whose tyranny sometimes equates that of a KGB officer (they where officers back when Russia was the Soviet Union and communist).
Alas, even the only method to achieve perfection is full of flaws. What a bummer... Well, that's the end of my philosophical mumbo jumbo. Take it or leave it. I am not trying to convince you of anything, unlike our religions fanatics and pious atheist. I just wanted to share with you my thoughts on these three ideas. Anyhow, 5 stars for me and my awesomeness. Hehehehe...
hey u !!! damn man u r awesome ;; :-)
