Evanescence
After this incident, nothing else occurred for Evanescence for a while. A few tours here and there. I do remember that Amy Lee sang “Broken” with Seether. This song was for the Punisher movie from 2004. “The Open Door” album was decent at best. It truly was not my cup of tea. However, “Lithium” and “Call Me when You are Sober” were not half bad. They are cooking up a new album. However, Evanescence is taking its dear sweet time because Amy hates rushing the creative process. Not that it helped her the first time she took her time… Anyhow, this band deserves 5 star rating.
Evanescence Band Review
Evanescence was founded by the singer/ pianist Amy Lee and
Guitarist Ben Moody. They are from
Little Rock, Arkansas. The name itself
means to disappear. It took Amy Lee and Moody a long time to come up with a
proper name for a band. Considering that
Evanescence is a rock band, this name works pretty well. Their first, full length Album is called “Fallen”.
It was published in the year 2003. I
bought that album when it first came out. I must say that “Fallen” was far
better than their following album. The world does agree with me. “Fallen” alone
allowed them to achieve world fame.
Evanescence’s “Fallen” sold more than 15 million copies. It’s ironic
that an album called “Fallen” helped Evanescence to rise to fame. From this album, the single “Bring Me to Life”
was also a major success.
After their first big success, Evanescence hit their first
brick wall. There arose some friction between Moody and Amy. The split was
because Moody wanted to make money and Amy wanted to make art. I think it was a
mistake for Moody to leave. After he left, Evanescence was not able to top
their first major success. Well, Evanescence
may not be as commercially successful as they were in 2003. However, at least
dear Amy is having a lot of fun creating art. Hehehehe. To make a band work,
you need a balance between money and art form.
