Chains
by Teresita Blanco
by Teresita Blanco
Gold,
silver, iron and also bronze.
A
tangled web of chains
Each new
link, more rusted
Than the
one that came before.
The same
anchor connecting all.
The weakest
link, now broken,
Discarded,
alone it drifts,
The sands
envelops it,
Monument
by Teresita Blanco
by Teresita Blanco
Let us
make a monument.
A
wholesome place to lament.
Fill it
with names,
Fill it
with names.
The sun
will always rise
Indifferent
to our cries.
All we
have is this second.
Look,
forth, he beckons.
Time to
write our name.
Earth
won’t hide our shame.
The Water
by Teresita Blanco
by Teresita Blanco
Put your
hand in the water.
Does it
feel warm?
Take my
hand,
The
water is not so deep.
Got to
sleep,
Travel
to another land;
Where you
won’t know harm.
Sink
down, go deeper.
My dear,
sleeper
Rest
till dawn.
The
birds have yet to awaken!
Your
dreams will not be taken!
Does it
feel warm?
Sink
your head, in the water.
Take my
hand,
Let’s go
farther.
Take my
hand,
Let’s go
deeper,
Into the
water.
