If you thought the global economy was bad before, just wait until SOPA passes. For starters, that act will benefit only the SOBs of the entertainments industry at Hollywood. As soon as that law pass, practically 70% of the websites are gonna disappear. It is going to leave it up to the entertainment industry to censor the internet.
For starters, the entertainment industry (or E.I for short) has nothing to do with the internet. The congress is giving absolute power to the E.I. to stamp out their competition. By focusing on such a small group, the congress is missing the big picture!!
Hundreds and thousands of people depend on the internet to make money. Unlike E.I., the internet is creating hundreds and thousands of jobs daily. So why should E.I (who rarely makes anything worth watching) deserve special treatment? As a matter of fact, SOPA would create the biggest wave of unemployment in the history of mankind.
All the suggested measures of the redrafted SOPA will make it easier for E.I. to destroy the internet. It is just like the Machiavellian punishment they devised for having only one downloaded song (5 years in prison and a 20,000 dollar fine).
I am sick and tired of the Tyranny of the few. I left Cuba fleeing the Tyranny of the Castro brothers, now here, I must deal with Oligarchs. Is there no place left in the world where freedom exist? Listen to me, SOPA is unamerican. It practically over kills fair usage. Now there is no usage allow whatsoever (not even to make a decent fart joke...).
The current opposition to SOPA goes from Google to Facebook. Both social medias and search engines are putting aside their differences to face a common enemy. Animekida and other anime websites have banded together to form The Otaku Anti SOPA coalition. SOPA would destroy fan subs anime culture. Most anime shows reach the US via fan subs. Without them, the internet loose most of its great anime.
For those that do not know, fan subs are anime shows recorded by fans and translated by them. If I remembered correctly, according to the freedom of speech amendment, if you translate something then it belongs to you. This applies to everything except the production of E.I. SOPA violates our freedom of speech.
Hulu , Funimation and Chunckyroll support SOPA because they want to create an internet anime monopoly. Without the fansub competition, nothing will stop them from jacking up the membership fee to watch their anime shows. In no time, only the filty rich will be able to afford watching good anime shows.
Those companies have censored anime in such a way as to make it that only visible in the UK and US can see them. Many places like the Philippines, Germany, India ect. will be devoid of any anime watch. This law not only affects the US, but the world at large.
At a time when war in Iran is just around the corner, the last thing the US needs is to make everyone their enemy just for the sake of helping E.I. make even more money... I will say this again!!! To all the spies that might be reading this blog, SOPA is a national security threat. It steps on the toes of all countries around the world. That is the last thing we need at a time like THIS.
