AnimeKida: The New Otaku Social Media
article by Teresita Blanco

Recently, Animekida converted itself to a social media. Now, in addition to streaming free legal anime, it also acts like a social media. Unlike other social medias, anime kida has not take that dark sinister turn, that Facebook or Pixiv has taken. In AnimeKida, mangaka artists retain full ownership of whatever anime picture, odd youtube video, music montage or whatever they make. They also have the ability to upload as much of their own work, free of charge. They do not have a 1 gigabite allowances that piscaweb has.

Currently, the website is closed up. You need to log in or join to peep into the wonders that live within. What makes this website so special, now are its members. All the members within this social media are die hard otakus. Currently, the female members outnumber the male members 10 to 1. For some reason, female otakus seem to prefer AnimeKida over facebook. Animekida's  owners have been advertising that fact to attract more men into the website, to even things out.

Many of the members have told of their annoyance or paranoia with facebook. Many a times, it happens that you post a picture of yourself dressed as Naruto or Ichigo and then you have a hard time finding a job, or you get fired. Like we all know, the bosses, your parents, the CIA and Titan Drop are all over facebook, spying on you like the jerks they are. There is simply no more privacy in Facebook, who like the rest, has sold out now that it has become profitable. Animekida has become an alternative to those who are fed up, or bored of Facebook.

Currently, Animekida has no commercials. The days of centry, lefty and righty are over. From what I heard, they are now more into growing their website to get sponsors or maybe some donations (like Wikipedia). This makes AnimeKida more user friendly, since it is not clouded up with commercials.

Animekida is not too jerky about member interactions. As long as you do not become an internet bully or a serious weirdo, if you catch my meaning, the owners will not kick you out of the website. The owners try hard to maintain a friendly, productive environment.

In facebook, they make a big deal about what kind of groups and clubs you can make. Here, you can ask the owners to make a group celebrating your awesomeness. They are also in the process of integrating all the known fandoms into one anime website. So, if you are a fan of something, you may find others who share your interest. They also give you battle trophies as you do actions that pertain to your fandom.

I forgot to mention that membership is free. You do not need to pay a dime, nor a nickle to join. If you do not feel like giving your true email, just make up one when joining the website. Unlike other joints, Animekida will not pester your with daily newsletters of things you do not even remotely care about. They understand the user, and what the user wants. They are also open to help you in any way possible, even with non animekida related concerns, like if you need advices in managing your own internet website or if you need a cosigner for your loan (nah, I am just kidding). Needles to say, they are not too jerky about shameless self promotion.

Taking everything as a whole, Animekida makes for a wonderful otaku anime social media. A social media made by otakus for other otakus. Neat, that should be their slogan... Truly, Anime Kida's new form is 5 stars worthy. I hope that you visit this new otaku social media, when you have the chance. I promise you, you won't regret it.
