The Day After Tomorrow My Fav Stormy Movie 5 Stars Worthy
"The Day after Tomorrow" is my favorite Storm movie. To start the review, I will tell you a bit about the plot. The main character is a scientist who predicted a new ice age. One day, his predictions start coming true. All over the world, massive storms start surfacing. The problem is that the guy who can do something about it hates his guts. Needless to say, he choose a bad time to make enemies of the Vice President.
Long story short, a lot of people died because of the Vice President's pride. Eventually, they do listen to to the scientist. By then, it is too late for half the U.S. population. They must wait for the mega storm to pass. To make matters worse, the scientist's son is stuck in New York. The eye of the storm will pass by there. I think that is enough information on the plot.
For being a movie about climate change, it certainly makes a point. My favorite storm scene took place in California. There they had a series of jumbo tornadoes. It was funny that only the cleaning guy survive. He did not even noticed that a tornado had passed by the building he worked at. Out of the blue, the lights went out. He opened the only door that seemed to have light. When he opened it, he saw that a whole piece of the building had flown away.
Another scene that I liked involved the book burning scene in the library. The kids had to burn books to keep warm. They were aided by the librarian. He complained when the girl tried to burn Nietzsche's books. He said he was the most important 19th century writer. The girl argued that he was a misogynist pig, who was in love with his sister. He her rebuked, by stating the Nietzsche did not hate women... Although, he did admit that Nietzsche was in love with his sister.
Long story short, they found an entire section full of law books, with precedents. They figured that they were useless now that the world was ending. Speaking of books, it was cute that the librarian wanted to protect the Bible. He did not protect it out of piety. You see, the Bible he protected was one of the first Bibles ever printed, with the printing press. It stood as a symbol of the start of the modern era.
Overall, it was interesting food for thought. The last interesting detail was that only the Northern Countries got affected by the jumbo storms. They were forced to kiss up to the third world countries in order to survive. Boy, the creator of this movie had a sick sense of humor. In any case, "The Day After Tomorrow" deserves 5 stars rating.
