Carrie Scary Steven King Movie Review 5 Stars
A few days ago, I watched the Carrie movie. I cannot say which Carrie movie I watched. It has like a million versions, each one bloodier than the last. I think it was the 2002 version. Carrie is one of Steven King's horror movie classic. It is about a shy girl with telekinesis powers. Carrie has a very overprotective, hyper religious mother. She has been raising Carrie to be a saint. Carrie resents her mother's rearing.
Deep down she wishes to live her own life. Anyhow, the story is told from the testimonies of people who knew Carrie. Each person sheds some light to what happened at prom night. The biggest bummer is how Carrie's friend knew her childhood flashback. When Carrie was small she had an outburst of psychic powers. She went as far as calling forth meteors.
You see, her mother had seen Carrie talking to her neighbor. She hated her neighbor because she liked to suntan herself without a shirt. She thought that her neighbor was sinful. Many a times she prayed that her Carrie would not grow "dirty pillows". That day Carrie's mother locked her up in her prayer closet. All the while, Carrie had a psychic fit. Since then, she did not display any telekinesis powers. The day she had her first period her psychic powers started acting up again.
Her mother had forbidden her to take health class. Thus, she did not know what was happening to her body. She thought she was dying. To make matters worse, it happened in the girls locker room while she was bathing. Her peers mercilessly started laughing at her. They chanted, "First Period!"From that point in the story on, Carrie's bullies went further and further. It culminated in their final prank in Prom Night.
Needless to say, the movie is a countdown toward Prom Night. It hints at the tragedy that is about to befall everyone for pushing Carrie too far. The ending is a bloody massacre. It is interesting that the movie was pretty typical, until Carrie started gaining some control over her powers.
The moral of the story is timeless. It shows you the deadly consequences of bulling someone. You may never know if that person might go crazy on you. In the end, the bullies created the instrument of their own demise. Truly, Carrie is a 5 stars worthy movie. I recommend this cautionary tale to all bullies.
