Darkness II Video Game Review
So, this weekend I was seriously bored. To kill some time, I started playing the demos of the new X BOX games. The first one that I played was Darkness II. From what I played, I suppose the story is about a man named Jackie. He has been possessed by the power of Darkness. When he first came to, there was a creepo that had cruxified him. They where trying to "persuade" (as in torturing physically and mentally) him to give up the power of darkness. The rules dictate that Jackie could not be deprived of his powers. Rather, he had to willingly let them go.
Thus, he gave Jackie a fancy vision that became our first mission. Basically, Jackie was having a fine dinner with two hotties when all hell broke lose. The restaurants was in flames from the explosion. One of Jackie's allies started dragging him across the floor has he shot at the bad guys (this is a shooting game so its a first person perspective). It was really hard, I lost 3 times in the first round. Out the windows, guys wearing orange jumpsuits started entering the building.
Out of the blue, a strange eerie voice said, "Jackie... turn to the dark". That voice was so demonic and inhumane. It was truly fitting for the scenery. Eventually, Jackie was left alone. As he dragged himself across the floor outside the burning building, Jackie finally tapped into the power of Darkness. Its pretty neat how his feet were shown dangling to give the impression that Jackie was flying. His healing in this form was 100% perfect. So much so, that he even sprouted the missing piece and shoe of his tux suit.
For the other half of the mission, Jackie fought with the guns and two long tentacle snake looking demons. It was a bit problematic to use at first. However, the lil snake heads got the job done far more efficiently than the guns. Still, they did have a lil range problem, so the tutorial taught me how to grab and throw things. Also, Jackie heals by feeding the demons the hearts of men.
I tried going on a devil may cry like killing rampage. However, I soon discovered that cation was the best course of action. The game was really graphic... So much blood and gore and bodies cut in half. As a rule, I avoid games that take violence too over the top. I am a blood sucker, however, this was too much. If you are into such a disturbing sight, then this is the game for you. The storyline was pretty original. In any case, this bloody game is 5 star worthy.
