The Perfume The Story of a Murderer Movie Review
by Teresita Blanco
The Perfume movie was based on a book by the same name. The movie stayed true to the spirit of the book. It did a better job than the book to illustrate scent. The
director illustrated how death follow Jean-Baptiste Grenouille.
In the movie, Grenouille either killed hot women or caused people to die because of him. Like in the book, the movie started with Grenouille's birth. The French fish market was far too accurate to be tasteful. His mother gave birth at her fish stall.
She went right back to work. What a trooper!! When the kid started yelling, she was hanged for attempted infanticide. In a sense, Grenouille's mother was his first victim. When he was being processed, the nurse maid noticed his odd fixation with scent.
The movie featured Dustin Hoffmann. He taught Grenouille how to make perfumes. This went well with Grenouille's obsession with smell. The ending was a bit surrealistic. The movie truly is worth watching.
