Is it Better to be Shocked or Beaten?
The purpose of this blog is to weight the pros and cons of the current popular subjugation protocol practiced by most Law Enforcement officers. Should you refuse to be arrested, you can expect two likely outcomes (should the cop fail in restraining or shooting you with a bullet): You are either beaten to near death by their... (whats the word) quacking stick (I know in spanish is called Macana) or taser to a near comatose state. Both scenarios are most unfortunate. Alas, this blog will weight the pros and the cons of either unfortunate scenarios. Thus, finally figuring out if it is better to be shocked or beaten.
Ok, lets begin. I shall start my analysis with the taser. I never been taser before in my life by a police officer. However, I am quite familiar with electrocution. More than once, the on swift of the laundry (in my apartment complex) has nearly laid me flat. Plus, my old TV back in Cuba was hazardous to one's health whenever, one was forced to either plug or unplug. Thus, I am qualified to talk about being shocked. As for the side effects, I did a lil research; I spoke with some of my mother's doctor friends. Thus, I am familiar with the physical side effects of electrocution or taser.
Lets start with the cons. The pro taser folks (i.e the humane cops) have been told that the taser only affects the muscle. From what I learned, the body is mostly salt water. As you may not know, salt water is a good conductor. Thus, the Taser goes above and beyond in the affecting a person's body. In any case, here are some interesting Cons against being shocked.
Ok, one major difference between being tasor or being electrocuted by a wall plug is the amount. Cops unlike plugs, can control the amount of electricity flowing through your body. IF you run the ill luck of getting an LAP officer or a particular sadistic cop, here are some of the major side effects you will experience.
1- Uncontrollable twitching movements.
This one is the most common. Remember, the pro shockers state that the taser only interrupts the brain's connection to the muscle. Basically, it creates a shock that disrupts the neurotransmitters communications with the muscles. Such interruptions or electricity is bad for our neurotransmitters. There is a chance that they either die or start malfunctioning indefinitely. Worse case scenario you will get an odd twitching from time to time. Temporarily or permanently.
2- Clattering of teeth.
Well, if you think about it, this one goes hand in hand with the odd twitching movements. At times, it happens, that in the night, one starts grinding one's teeth together after being shocked. This eventually ruins your gums. Worse case scenario you will have to get braces in your sorry old age.
3- Migraine or Chronic migraine
This side effect I know from experience. After I got electrocuted by the on switch at the laundry, I got this migraine going that not even alvil could cure. It went away after a day or two. However, it kept coming and going for about three months. Now, whenever I see an on switch I feel a light discomfort in the back of my head.
4- Possible loss of neurons
Well, you know. Messing around with the brain always results in loss of neurons. Shocking has shocking consequences on our precious few neurons. I remember that I forgot algebra after that incident at the laundry. I had to relearn it ,in like three weeks, for the finals.
5- Might die of heart a attack
I do remember ,during that incident, feeling my heart beating irregularly. Plus, I seen in the news like three criminals being shocked to death by the police. Its a real shame to be arrested by a sadistic cop. I guess it cannot be helped. As my saying goes, "those with lil power will bleed it for all its worth, those with a lot of power will use it conservatively. " If you think about it, disrupting the connection of the muscles is supposedly not harmful. Except that our heart is one blood pumping muscle!!!
6- Loss of Consciousness
This one goes without saying. Most people faint when experiencing terrible pain. I don't know why they say taser is not painful... I mean, have you ever seen the hangover? That taser really did look painful.
7- Uncontrollable bowels movements (i.e. you might poop yourself)
I think this is the last side effect that I could dig up. Your buttock... is a (eh) muscle. Thus, if you loose control of your muscles then you loose control of your buttock as well...Resulting in poop...
Now for the Pros:
Before forming an argument against something it is always important to consider the other side. Now, lets consider what are the benefits of being shocked... hehehehehe.
1- Does not seriously scar you
Well, the worst scars that you get are from the lil pricks from the needles that are shot with the cables. I think you might get some minor burns at the sore spot. Other than that, you come out aesthetically pleasing from being taser.
2- Does not break any bones
This goes without saying...
3- Does not damage organs (except for the heart and brain)
Well, the organs usually are more prone to blows to the head or booze. So, if you are exposed to neither ,then they function rather well...for the most part.
4-The effects are not permanent (physically)
This only applies to superficial damage. The damage to the brain or the heart never really goes away. Those are very tender organs.
5-Seen as more human (by the perpetrators)
Well, if you ask me any alternative to a royal beating (or a dog bite) is more humane. Frankly, I think physically damage is evil (although I have no problem with psychological tortures...hehehehe).
Ok, now onto the Cons for being beaten to death. Frankly, I was not able to think of any benefits for being beaten to death. Its such an ugly way to die. Although, its not the worst way to kick the bucket.
1-Breaks bones (and automail...hehehehe)
Well, any serious blows with either a fist, a boot or a ...whacking stick can break your bones. Most folks do not drink their milk these days. Thus, bones are more brittle.
2- Internal bleeding
Well, this one goes hand in hand with broken bones. Organs do puncture and break with a lot of blows.
3- Might become crippled
Well, you know. Blows to the back might break your spinal cord. I guess this might be added to the broken bones side effect.
4-Death, Comma, Brain Concussion ect.
Any serious brain injury might result in all of the above.
5-Defacement
Well, with a lot of blows your face will get seriously scared. You might get a flatten nose, a purple eye (or lost of eye), ect.
Well, here are the pros and the cons for either being shocked or beaten. If you ask me, we should replace shocking with tranquilizer darts. It gets adequate results and it does not harm the brain much. I think it might be bad for the liver. Eh, I think that's all I have to say on that matter. I am sorry that the ending was a bit weak. To be honest I got bored around the middle. Plus, I had more parallels with the shocking, than with the beating. Oh well. Tata and goodnight. In conclusion, its better to be shocked than beaten. Although, you should prefer to be shot with a tranquilizer dart.
