Fragonard was a talented French Rococo painter. He was one of the most prolific painters of his time. His teacher was Francois Boucher and Chardin. Like most painters, Fragonard started with religious paintings. He then switched to genre scenes.  It was recorded that he painted more than 550 paintings (not counting his etchings). His genre paintings imbued a sense of intimacy and sensuality.

The first painting worth reviewing is called a Blind Man's Bluff. The Blind Man's Bluff was a popular game of the day. Basically, the person who is it is blindfolded. He is supposed to find the other players while blindfolded. The game was usually played in the outdoors. In this painting, the maiden in white is it. The other players are scattered about. This painting shows middle class leisure. It is also a gorgeous landscape. Truly, this landscape painting by Fragonard deserves 5 stars rating.

This painting shows Venus and her Cupid. Both look beautiful together. This painting alludes to the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus. This beautiful painting by Fragonard deserves 5 stars rating.

This painting is about the fountain of love. The wind and a nymph are about to drink from the fountain of love. This will assure prosperity in their marriage. The scene takes place at night. The fog and darkness adds an air of intimacy to the scene. This lovely painting by Fragonard deserves 5 stars rating.

In this painting, we see the lovely Cupid with a torch. He is rising from a nest of doves. This painting is truly beautiful. Even the frame matches its beauty. This painting deserves 5 stars rating.

This genre scene shows a young couple in the outdoors. They are playing in the garden. They are about to set a dove free. Their rosy colors matches the beautiful rococo scenery. Everything has a touch innocence and beauty. 5 stars for Fragonard.

In this genre scene, a girl and several children are playing. Based on the dress the girl appears to be from the upper class. The kids are street urchins. The older boy seems to be falling in love with the girl. In the foreground, we see some wine and grapes. This shows that both the girl and boy are drunk. This lovely painting by Fragonard deserves 5 stars rating.

Pastoral scenes became popular during the Rococo period. As such, Fragonard painted an idealized shepherdess. She is taking care of a little lamb while making a wreath of flowers. Taking care of sheep seems easy. However, a shepherd must always fight against loneliness, wolves and occasionally lions. Still, this is a pretty 5 stars worthy picture.

This painting is simple enough. The young man has stolen a kiss from his girlfriend. She is keeping an eye on the stern maidens in the drawing room. 5 stars for Fragonard.
